Cumberland Marine commitment to quality workmanship, and a vWorks (CMW) was built from a passion for the lake lifestyle, a ision to create a trusted marine service company that customers can rely on for years to come.

Owner and operator Ryan Williams left the corporate world in 2017 to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and build a business centered around the boating and waterfront community he loves. With a strong background in business operations, leadership, customer service, and project management, Ryan combined his professional experience with his passion for life on the water.

In September 2019, Ryan purchased a local marina property after falling in love with both the lake community and the potential of the property itself. At the same time, he expanded operations into boat lift installation and service, laying the foundation for what would eventually become CMW.

Shortly after opening, the business faced one of the most difficult economic periods in recent history as COVID-19 impacted businesses across the country. Despite the challenges, Ryan continued pushing forward — operating the marina, campground, and restaurant while growing the marine service side of the business. Through determination, long hours, and hands-on leadership, he transformed the property into a thriving waterfront destination known throughout the local boating community.

As the marine service division continued to grow, Ryan made the decision to separate the marina operations from the boat lift and marine construction services. In early 2022, Cumberland Marine Works officially became its own company.

Ryan is an authorized HydroHoist dealer and has grown CMW into one of the top HydroHoist dealers in the United States. His experience operating a marina, managing marine facilities, and overseeing waterfront operations gives him a unique understanding of the challenges boat owners and lakefront property owners face.

After successfully developing and growing the marina property, Ryan sold it to an institutionally backed real estate investment and property management company specializing in acquiring, integrating, and operating high-quality waterfront and boat storage facilities across the United States. Today, he continues serving as a consultant for that company, providing leadership, operational insight, and marine industry expertise while continuing to lead CMW.

Lead technician Dustin has been with Ryan since the very beginning and brings extensive experience in the boat lift industry. Before joining CMW, Dustin worked directly with HydroHoist, giving him in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on expertise with lift systems, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Today, Dustin helps lead CMW’s growing team and plays a major role in maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship, dependable service, and expert-level marine solutions.
